In early May, HAC spoke with a representative of Alderman Mary Ann Smith about next steps for a DFA. At the time, HAC was told that the Broadway Zoning proposal would be voted on later in the week and that once this vote was taken - Hollywoof would be next on the agenda.

Unfortunately, it seems Hollywoof is in an involuntary holding pattern. Repeated attempts to reach a representative of Alderman Smith have been ignored. HAC has not received a status on anything involving Hollywoof from Alderman Smith's office. Is the meadows a viable option for a DFA location? Would the Edgewater Beach Apartments (the pink building) consider a DFA in their backyard? We wish we had an answer to those questions or could history be repeating itself?

The next EBNA (Edgewater Beach Neighbors Association) general meeting will be June 27th at Edgewater Presbyterian Church (1020 W. Bryn Mawr). Meetings usually begin at 7:30 p.m., but this meeting time may change to 7:00 due the needs of a guest speaker. Exact time and agenda will be issued next week.

Rosco
We have a new pup to add to our Hollywoof family. About two months ago, HAC received a notice from the Anti-Cruelty Society that a little Beagle with a broken leg needed a foster parent. Well, that Beagle's name is Rosco and he didn't just find a foster parent; he found a new home with Nadine Williams.

Here's what Nadine said about her experience:

"Behind those cute innocent puppy dog eyes lies a little devilish hound. He LOVES to play tug-o-war with me or Buster and fetch (he's really good at this) and he LOVES people and other dogs. He and his brother, Buster, get along really well. Rosco likes to cuddle with his brother on the sofa and sometimes at night in bed. They really are cute with each other. With those long floppy ears and big paws, how could you not fall in love with him?

"The fostering program at Anti-Cruelty was great for me. I had been considering getting a second dog to keep Buster company. Fostering gave me the opportunity to see how Buster would do with a second dog in the house and also if they would get along. Once Buster accepted Rosco into the house, I knew that I was going to adopt him. In my case, with a dog with an injury, all the medical expenses were paid for by Anti-Cruelty. Rosco did have to get recasted while I had him (he got the pretty pink cast you see in the picture) and all I had to do was take him to the AC vet. They x-rayed him to see how he was doing and put on a new cast.

"My experience with fostering (to adopt) was great and I would do it again in the future."
