As you may have read, Alderman Smith's office has recently suggested a new proposed Dog Friendly Area site, a few blocks south of its original proposed location. The new suggested site is east of Sheridan Road, in a strip of Lincoln Park north of Foster, between Lake Shore Drive and the Saddle & Cycle Club. Here is a satellite map showing the approximate location of the new proposed DFA site.

New proposed Hollywoof site

Unlike previously proposed sites, this new proposed DFA site is not near a residential structure and is near public parking (the Foster Beach lot).

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available...

On October 9, a rabid bat was found in the vicinity of 5812 N. Ridge.

Per notice from Animal Care and Control:

All residents should keep their dogs, cat and ferrets on a leash when out of their homes. If the dog, cat or ferret does not have a current rabies vaccination, please see a licensed veterinarian immediately to have the pet inoculated with the rabies vaccine.

You are advised not to handle any bats or wild animals. If any bats are found, call the City of Chicago at 311 and they will inform the Chicago Department of Animal Care and Control and the Cook County Department of Animal Control.

Chicago Dog License - Please Read Thu Aug 10, 2006 1:17 pm

Dear Hollywoof Supporters:

It has been brought to our attention that, when filling out the Chicago Dog License form, there is a column that allows you to indicate the ward in which you and your dog reside. Please be sure to fill out this information as it is critical in determining how many dogs reside in each of our wards.

If you haven't yet gotten your Chicago dog license, please do so ASAP. Filling out that form is required by the city to prove your dog's Rabies vaccination is up to date. The license tag also helps Animal Care and Control identify your dog in the event you are separated. By the way, a Chicago dog license is a prerequisite for the CPD Dog Friendly Area permit.
